ALEXANDRA - Fire fighters have been called to douse a massive blaze in Alexandra, northern Johannesburg on Monday.
Johannesburg Emergency Services said at least 10 shacks caught alight.
The massive fire broke out directly behind the Helen Joseph Hostel on the corner of 6th Avenue and Hofmeyer.
Emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said fire fighters were still battling the blaze.
“There are no injuries reported.”
Motorists on London Road and Old Pretoria Main Road said it looked as if a building was on fire.
“I can see a cloud of black smoke and the flames are extremely high.”
