GEORGE NEWS - The Wilderness National Sea Reasue Institute has again been nominated for this year's Centrum Guardian Project.
The project recognises and rewards the incredible acts of courage and
self-sacrifice made by the people who work in the Emergency Services
(ES) Industry, saving the lives of South Africans every day.
Torsten Henschel and his team at the NSRI have been nominated for the
rescue of local George schoolboy, Ruan Klopper, on 15 January. Klopper
was rescued by Henschel after he was swept away by a strong current,
while he and fellow learners from the Bult High School were on an
outing.
Henschel is one of 16 to reach the semi-finals.
For more information, or to vote for Henschel, visit www.centrumguardian.com.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
