A five-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a residence in the Parkview, Johannesburg, this evening.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain uncertain and will form the subject of a South African Police Force investigation.
Common cause information suggests that the boy had fallen into the water and was immersed for an unknown period of time. He was pulled from the water by his mother who started CPR.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the child fighting for his life, and took over care of the boy. Despite their best efforts to revive the child, he was declared dead at the scene.
