JOHANNESBURG - A man was killed and another suffered minor burn wounds in separate shack fires in Alexandra and Kanana informal settlements, Johannesburg on Sunday.
Authorities said the unknown cause of the fire burnt the man to death in Alexandra.
Ten shacks were burnt to the ground in Kanana near Midrand, leaving one man with minor injuries.
Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson Synoch Matobako said they are investigating the cause of both fires.
“We are warning community members to be very vigilant when it comes to fire safety.”
