The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Dee de Souza writes: Durban Harbour yesterday, 17 July 2012, 2.40pm. Yes, they were indeed "serious windwhipped waves"!! First time I have ever seen the Harbour so wild. Have often heard about it but first time I have witnessed it.
