The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Fire destroys shack in Gugulethu – 2 persons displaced
A fire occurred at 11:21 on Sunday, 05 August 2012 at NY133 Mzimkulu S Dakuse Street, Gugulethu.
The fire destroyed one shack resulting in the displacement of 2 persons.
The City’s disaster response teams will provide humanitarian and social relief aid today to the victims.
It is unclear how the fire started and an inquest docket has been opened to investigate the incident.
No persons sustained any injuries.
