IMPORTANT NOTICE: ROAD CLOSURES, ROAD CONDITIONS DURING DISASTERS OR SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS.
The SAWDOS deem it necessary to inform the general public that the SAWDOS provided information of road closures during disasters or severe weather events on it's Twitter page or Blog page in the past. It is not the function of the SAWDOS to provide such information to the general public.
The SAWDOS will in future not provide listed information on road closures during disasters or severe weather events. This has the implication that the public will in future not see published topics called: "Road Closures in South Africa due to Severe Weather".
This does not mean that the public will be left in the dark about road closures or road conditions. The SAWDOS added the following page to the SAWDOS Blog Pages section: "Traffic Twitter Updates" which can be accessed from the SAWDOS home page. (Just click on the heading Traffic Twitter Updates. ) Here you will be able to get the latest Nationwide Traffic updates for South Africa, tweeted as it happens ~ a fully interactive service or if you so wish you can send a tweet directly to TrafficSA for route advice.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SAWDOS WILL NOT ANSWER ANY SMS'S + EMAILS PERTAINING TO ROAD CONDITIONS OR ROAD CLOSURES IN FUTURE!!
The SAWDOS does not provide traffic or alternative road information on a daily or subscription basis. South Africa has several traffic information services that render an outstanding services to the general public on a daily basis and the SAWDOS would like to recommend that these organizations be contacted for daily traffic and road condition information.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
