Two boys have drowned in a river in Chatsworth. The children, who are believed to be aged seven and 13, are thought to have gone for a swim in the Welbedacht area this morning.
It's believed the boys got into difficulty when they were caught in a current which dragged them under thick hyacinth in the water.
Emergency officials including search and rescue officials and the police dog unit were called out to help find the boys.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says sadly not much could be done to revive the children.
"Divers had gone down, dived underneath this hyacinth. It's a very, very dangerous dive indeed. Their dogs searched and within a hour, hour an a half, they actually found both of the bodies.
"Tragically they had died."
