UPDATE 2: SEA RESCUE PLETTENBERG BAY: Friday 10th August. Confirmed information


It is now confirmed that there were 6 people originally on the small tiller arm boat.

4 adult males, one a 50 year old and the remaining 3 aged in their 40's, and their boat remain missing.

The female, her Son, both whose bodies have been recovered, and 2 of the missing adult males are from one family. The remaining 2 missing adult males are friends and are not related.

They are all locals from Plettenberg Bay and it remains understood that they had launched to fish on the river.

An extensive sea, air and shore search is continuing with NSRI Plettenberg Bay sea rescue craft, the EMS Skymed rescue helicopter, Police Divers and rescue personnel conducting shore patrols.

A large contingent of family and friends of the two deceased and of those missing have amassed at the scene to keep a vigil.

Deon Truter, NSRI Plettenberg Bay station commander confirmed also that sea conditions last night were a 2 to 4 meter swell, but calm seas, in the Keurbooms River Mouth and today sea conditions are a lot flatter.
