Umlazi landslide: 50 homeless
A clearer picture of the storm devastation has started to emerge today, as KZN's disaster management teams continue to scour the province's hardest hit areas.
Heavy showers lashed parts of KwaZulu-Natal for the second night, bringing with them strong winds.
Emergency officials say they will remain on stand-by throughout the day in areas where residents had been warned of possible flooding.
In Umlazi, south of Durban, at least 50 people were left homeless when their homes were destroyed in landslides.
They've been given temporary shelter at a nearby community hall and have been supplied with blankets and food parcels.
The city says other areas that have been reported to be affected are Ward 32, KwaMashu and Ward 90, Isipingo.
Spokesperson Thabo Mofokeng says officials are currently assessing the extent of the damage and will then determine the type of assistance needed.
He's added that while various roads in the city have experienced localised flooding, no roads are closed.
A low pressure system has been making its way through the province bringing with it heavy rainfall since Tuesday.
More than 100 millimetres of rain have been recorded around the province.
