The body of a four-year-old boy has washed up on Strand main beach outside Cape Town.
Abukwe Themba from Gugulethu was reported missing by his grandmother and uncle on Saturday.
Disaster Management's Wilfred-Solomons-Johannes says police are investigating whether the boy drowned.
“At 3:30am, the body washed ashore at Strand Beach. The police have opened an inquest docket into the matter and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” he says.
Meanwhile, the search for a man who went missing at sea near Plettenberg Bay has entered its fifth day.
Renco van Deventer disappeared under the water on Wednesday while swimming with two friends near Nature's Valley.
Southern Cape police say the 24-year-old's friends left the water due to strong rip currents.
