The KwaZulu-Natal government on Monday said it would continue to provide relief aid to some 200 families who were displaced after floods hit Umsinga and Umvoti.
The New Year’s storms claimed the lives of five people and the search continues to locate three missing people who are now presumed dead.
Several storms that hit the province in 2011 have resulted in damages worth R84 million.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube said plans were in place to deal with such disasters in future.
“We’re doing everything that we can to ensure that loses of lives are minimal,” she said.
