Rescue workers resumed a search for a car that was washed off a bridge on the Blyde River near Hoedspruit, Limpopo police said on Saturday.
“Police divers are still on the scene as well as an Airforce helicopter but the Blyde river dam is still overflowing and the river is quite strong,” Lt-Col Ronel Otto said.
“It's not quite possible to go onto the river with jet skis but the search team is patrolling the banks of the river,” she said.
Otto said the vehicle went missing on Thursday night. The province has been experiencing flooding and high rains.
“We don't know what kind of car it was and we are not yet sure how many people were inside it. Eyewitnesses said they just saw it going off the bridge” she said.
“The search is still continuing and nothing has been found yet,” she said.
