A mother and her child burnt to death in a fire in Sobantu Village, near Pietermaritzburg on Monday morning, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said paramedics and the fire department arrived at the woman's shack and found it engulfed in flames.
“After firemen managed to extinguish the fire they found two bodies burnt beyond recognition between the remains of the shack,” he said.
“Exact details on the cause of the fire will remain a subject for police investigation.”
